Our plane was down for maintenance so we had to drive up to Chino where our company rented a plane. There we met Ray, the pilot and owner of a beautiful prop plane, The Pilatus. Ray flew us to John Wayne airport where Scott, Gerardo and I rendezvoused with an ambulance. We experienced some wonderful Orange County traffic as we traveled to USC Medical Center. After loading the patient with ease through the wonderfully large cargo door (much easier than loading a patient on our Citation II), we flew to Scottsdale, AZ. We had limited seating in the cabin of the plane so Gerardo lucked out and got to sit in the cockpit. He got to enjoy the flight and relax while Scott and I did all the work.
As we walked through the emergency department of the hospital in Arizona (the hospital name escapes me right now), I hear a familiar voice. I think to myself, "I could never mistake that voice." I then say "Kristy," and my old coworker and dear friend turns around and screams "oh my gosh!" It is such a small world sometimes. Kristy used to work with me in San Diego before she and her husband transferred to AZ. I haven't seen her for at least a year. It was wonderful to see her and catch up.
Although the Pilatus is slower than our Citation II, we enjoyed the space that the plane offered. Ray treated us well and we had a great time flying with him.
