Ce matin j'ai pris le bus vers Cagnes-sur-Mer. Là j'ai marché au Château-Musée Grimaldi au Haut-de-Cagnes. Word was that the view from the top was fantastic, but today was humid and grey and the view was so-so.
Afterwards, I attempted to go to an atelier des parfums north of the town; however, no one seemed to know exactly how to get there by bus, even though it was clearly indicated on the map of the town and surrounding area. Enfin, j'ai décidé d'aller manger et j'ai trouvé un café qui offre de la socca - une spécialité niçoise. Elle est faite à base de farine de pois chiches et il faut la manger chaude avec de poivre. C'était délicieuse.
Après avoir mangé, je suis allée au Musée Renoir - it was the home where he was living at the time of his death in 1919 and contains many of his smaller works, as well as some of his correspondence to other renowned painters.
I met a Frenchman and his young son and their dog in Cagnes-sur-Mer who were heading back to Antibes, so they offered to give me a lift. Par hasard, le petit garçon de six ans avait une carte du monde avec lui dans la voiture et je lui expliqué où se trouve le Canada. Il m'a dit qu'il a voyagé en Suède car sa mère est suèdoise - he was so cute with short blond hair and bright blue eyes. I sat in the back of the car next to the baby seat (usually used for the boy's little 18-month old brother) where their little dog sat.
Back in Antibes, I had supper outside and met another traveller - from Venezuela. Il est comme plusieurs étrangers à Antibes qui habite là et cherche du travail sur un des plusieurs yachts en ville. Il est chef de cuisine et a travaillé sur plusieurs grands bateaux pendant les derniers mois.
I also met an Aussie woman and a Swiss woman who were also looking for work as stewardesses on cruise yachts - they had been in Antibes for several weeks and were excited to have finally found jobs starting next Monday. Nous et leurs amis avons commandé de la pizza et ensuite traversé la rue vers la plage rochée pour manger et discuter de nos voyages. The lights on the water were so beautiful.
Sorry, no pics today (I'm writing this six days behind) as the place that I'm staying at has free Internet access, but I can only use the monitor and keyboard, I can't access the hard drive to plug my camera in. :-(
